According to Greek mythology, Minthé was a watery nymph who had an affair with the god of the underworld, Hades. When his wife Persephone found out, Minthé was turned into mint - the aromatic plant with the well known aroma. It spread out over the entire underground world, masking the scent of death.
Through the scent of mint, the brand creates a modern version of the fougère olfactory category. Eau de Minthé exudes the green aromatic scent of mint from Oregon, USA, accentuated by nutmeg. Patchouli adds depth to the composition, according to the house. Instead of lavender, which is typical for fougère perfumes, Diptyque uses the aromas of rose and geranium.
